Basic Care Guidelines for the Fabrics we use
Our pieces are made with meaning and intention to be treated well, truly enjoyed and valued for their use. Please treat your special garments carefully. Spray perfume on before getting dressed. Give hand and body lotion a chance to dry. Gentle handling, necessary laundering and good storage methods contribute to maintain their rich texture, timeless elegance and ensures a longer lifetime.
LINGERIE – CHARMEUSE SILK
Spot clean or hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Lay flat in shade to dry. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry.
How to hand wash silk lingerie:
• Gather your pieces, sorting them by colour, to prevent colour transfer. It is normal for dark coloured silk to experience some colour loss, so please don’t be concerned.
• Fill a clean tub with lukewarm water – no more than 25C. Use a mild, chemicals alkaline free detergent, lingerie/ delicate wash or mild silicone free baby shampoo.
• Soak without leaving your silk item in water for more than teen minutes.
• Gently swirl your garment around.
• Rinse your items thoroughly in cold water, until you’re sure its free of cleanser, without rubbing. Lightly squeeze. Do not wring or twist.
• Gently roll your item in a clean towel to remove any excess water.
• To finish drying, lay the garment flat on a clean towel. Let the silk garment air dry naturally. Out of direct sunlight.
• Avoid using heat or steam, as this can damage the fibres. Iron silk items on the lowest setting.
• Always press from the wrong side to avoid leaving shiny patches on the face.
FINE OR LIGHT WEIGHT SILK – CHIFFON AND GEORGETTE
We highly recommend the dry clean only method for delicate silks. Be cautions while wearing jewellery.
CORSETS/INTERNAL STRUCTUR GARMENTS
Tailored items with complex cuts including boning deserve a trip to the dry cleaner.
100% VIRGIN WOOL
Superior natural fibre fabric traditionally practiced in haute couture tailoring. Its rigidity allows for structured forms and adds a touch of sophistication to every piece.
We highly recommend dry clean only method for wool garments if deep cleaning is necessary.
A good alternative is to hang a wool garment in the bathroom during a steamy shower or to air outdoors.
Wool is antibacterial and has a natural self cleaning property, hanging your garment out will remove much of the build-up of odor (sheltered from rain and sun)
A good airing can even get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke or strong perfume.
Eliminating the need for constant laundering.
Wool garments do not need to be ironed. Wool has inbuilt recovery, enabling it to maintain its shape. Hanging a creased wool garment in a damp or steamy environment will allow the creases to drop out in very little time without any need to press or iron.
Let the wool garment rest for 24 hours before wearing it again.
LYOCELL
Lyocell is a man-made natural plant based fibre, made from eucalyptus soft-wood pulp. It is soft, breathable, durable and biodegradable. Its closed-loop manufacture process produces minimal waste, making it an ecological choice. This fabric represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles.
Hand wash in cool water with delicate detergent is recommended. Hang in the shade to dry. Dry iron on low heat seating, always turn your garments inside out. Hang garments on padded hangers to prevent them from slipping.
VISCOSE
We highly advise to dry clean only or spot clean with cold water and gentle detergent.
Dry-cleaned viscose items can remain on hangers inside a cotton garment bag that allows airflow.
How to Spot Clean:
Use a mild detergent or diluted white vinegar solution and cold water. Gently dab the stained area with the solution using a clean cloth. Avoid rubbing and scrubbing. Rinse the area with cold water, avoid soaking. Treat the stain as soon as you notice it. The sooner you address a stain, the better the chances of successful removal.
NYLON
Man-made performance fabric, body shaping and extremely durable with high elasticity.
We recommend gentle hand wash in lukewarm water (no more that 30C). Hang in the shade to dry. Garment should be ironed inside out with an interposed damp cloth, on a low heat seating.
When Traveling:
Please pack your items in separate garment bags so they cannot be damaged by other garments in your luggage. After unpacking your suitcase, hanging the garments out will take care of small wrinkles. For persisting creases, hang your garments in the bathroom so they are exposed to humidity.
Final Note: Dry cleaning
• Choose a dry cleaner that uses only environmental safe dry cleaning chemicals C02 ”cold” dry cleaning. GREEN DRY CLEAN. Avoid PERC dry cleaning chemicals.
• We encourage airing out instead of dry-cleaning wherever possible.
• We advise to avoid storing dry-cleaned items away in an enclosed space- plastic bag.
